We formed in 2004 in order to encourage the Olympia City Council to make a greater commitment to improving walking conditions in Olympia.

Our first project is to secure an increase in funding for sidewalks as a part of a proposed Parks and Sidewalks ballot measure now scheduled for a September 14, 2004 vote. 

Soon, however, we will move on to education and encouragement of other walking issues, including:

a)  Improving pedestrian crossings on busy streets

b)  Improving intersection design to be more pedestrian-friendly

c)  Changing traffic signal timing to facilitate pedestrian crossing

d)  Encouraging law enforcement to vigorously defend pedestrian rights.

We sponsor regular walks, where we have some social time, get some exercise, and see specific issues that need to be addressed in our community.
